Seattle, WA (April 30, 2008): Naverus announced today that Naveen Rao has been named General Counsel, effective April 30. At Naverus, Rao will lead the company’s legal department.

Prior to joining Naverus, Mr. Rao held a variety of leadership positions in government and industry. Most recently, he acted as Counselor to the Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Transportation. In that role he served as an advisor and special assistant to a political appointee heading an office with responsibilities for licensing of all air carriers serving the U.S, formulation of aviation policy, negotiations with foreign civil aviation authorities, administration of economic programs affecting the airline industry and coordination of international programs across transportation modes.
Mr. Rao served at the U.S. Department of Transportation as Counselor to the Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs from 2006 to April 2008, and served as an attorney at the Federal Aviation Administration, Office of the Chief Counsel, 2001- 2006. Between 2003-2005, Mr. Rao served on detail as a Mike Mansfield Fellow in Washington, DC and Tokyo, Japan. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Louisville and received his law degree and MBA from the University of Arizona.
