Network/Systems Engineer

Responsibilities include: Supporting an integrated, responsive, and reliable multi-operating system server, PC, and network environment. Ensure high availability and performance of server and network environment.  Initiate activities to achieve service level objectives for optimum system performance and reliability. Maintain optimal use of server and network computing resources through such activities as load balancing and system tuning. Install and maintain network devices including hubs, switches, routers, firewalls, and gateway devices. Install server hardware and server-related peripheral devices. Install and maintain server operating and application software. Install and use network and server analysis and performance software to improve overall reliability and throughput. Effectively administer the Naverus computing environment through such activities as user account management, file/directory permissions, and file/system backup and restoration. Effectively administer the Naverus Lotus Notes environment through such activities as user account management, BES account management, and Notes database permissions. Effectively administer the Naverus Voice over IP Phone environment. Create and maintain operational procedures for data network and server documentation. Evaluate and implement new products to extend the reliability, responsiveness, and effective use of the data network and server environment. Provide PC support for Naverus employees. Provide coaching and assistance to other staff in the department.   Qualifications: Associates degree in Computer Science,  Business, or related discipline or equivalent experience required. Certification as MCSE, MCTIP, or CCNP preferred. Experience installing and supporting data network devices (4+ years) Experience administering and documenting data network and server environments (4+ years) Experience installing and supporting Windows or Lotus Notes servers (2-4 years) Experience installing and supporting networked PC's (4+ years) Experience administering and documenting Voice over IP phone networks (2-4 years) Experience using MS Office productivity applications (2-4 years) Thorough knowledge of networking concepts and management practices. Self-directed with a commitment to quality service. Knowledge of using network / server monitoring and analysis software. Clear written communications and ability to thoroughly document computing environment and support procedures. Ability to develop solutions to correct problems and to effectively use new technologies to improve service levels. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and share that learning with co-workers. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent project management skill. Physical ability to lift 40 lb.
